I don’t know what you’d call this, but I often drift away in thought. I walk for hours, daydreaming entire stories on the spot, or reimagining tales I’ve read in the past. When this happens, time slips away unnoticed.
I do the same with projects. Actually, this website was born during one of those daydreaming sessions—the glorious result of two hours of wandering aimlessly through on a rainy day. Before this, I had fabricated and attempted countless other projects, over 20, probably. Online shops, apps, painting collections, a Tolkien-inspired trilogy, a YouTube channel… I even tried developing an AI bot specialized in football betting. Some of these failures were epic, others just needed one final push.
Luckily, unlike many Romanians, I happen to be a very optimistic person. Failing has never discouraged me. I've always seen it as an exciting chance to explore something new. Without these so-called failures, I wouldn’t be here. Maybe I’d be a simple online shop owner, selling glasses with customizable frames (yes, one of my more “epic” failures). But most importantly, each failure taught me something invaluable.
It might not seem like much for a guy rushing through his 30s, but there’s another side of me. I’m a history geek. It started in childhood with obsessively drawing maps, which evolved into a fascination with historical cartography. Now, I use my “big boy” tech salary to bankroll a small collection of physical maps. On long weekends and holidays, I even attempt to restore vintage maps and artifacts, carefully bringing them back to their former glory.
I like to think I’m an introverted, down-to-earth guy. I treat people as individuals and I don’t have a superiority complex over anyone. Whether it’s art, literature, history, maps, coding, or anything else—we might have something in common. If so, let’s connect!
